2012/13 Away Jersey (Replica)

Similar to the 2012/13 Home Jersey, its counterpart is also a highly radical change from the previous years offerings. Featuring a nylon-like collar, the jersey combines the sleeves from an Arsenal jersey with a dark blue and black contrast to create a sash across the chest. The fit on the home jersey is a bit better, my biggest issue here being the collar, but I enjoy how the sleeves feel on my arms.

This particular jersey was debuted against Italy on February 29th, in a historic 1-0 victory which took place in Genoa. Before that, the USA had never beaten Italy and only managed to tie them in the 2006 World Cup (a great match where the USA ended up with 9 men vs Italy's 10). Clint Dempsey marked the difference that day, although most of the credit should have gone to the US defense who held Italy scoreless.

While I prefer the Home jersey, this away model is a good attempt by Nike at creating a memorable piece of kit. This design doesn't necessarily exhibit any particularly American qualities but I still think it looks sharp on the players.

2012/13 Home Jersey (Replica)

I've already got about 18 jerseys, which I'll post up in intervals so I have some new stuff up every couple of days. I chose to start off with the more recently released jerseys as, if anyone likes them, you'll still be able to buy them online. Nike makes two styles of jerseys: replica (which are cheaper, have stitched crests & are a bit heavier) & authentic (which are nearly twice as much, have ironed on crests & have a smoother and lightweight material, these are worn by the players).

The 2012/13 Home Jersey is one which was highly controversial during its announcement, either you hated it or you loved it. Mostly everyone agrees that it was inspired by Waldo (or Wally in some countries). The interchanging red and white hoops symbolize the stripes on the US Flag, the kit is paired up with blue shorts to represent the blue in our flag as well. I'm a fan of the kit as a whole because it screams "USA!"

I chose not to get any player name or number on this one because it would've meant I had to wait longer to get it, I'm quite impatient, haha

Welcome to my US Soccer collection!

Hey all,

After lurking around on some other people's collections such as Nick's, Joe's & Brad's, I finally decided to create my own site and share my US Soccer jersey collection to you all.

I'm originally from Florida, and have been a fan of the US national team since the 2002 World Cup, where I stayed up late and watched the boys craft a terrific run to the quarterfinals. I didn't watch too many USA games after that, but started to regain interest in the team during the 2007 Copa America (where the US embarrassed themselves in front of South American eyes, although they had sent a largely experimental teams full of substitutes).

Since then, I haven't taken my eyes off the team and have followed them religiously! I bought my first jersey in 2009 and slowly added to my collection. Earlier this year I realized I wanted to own all the USA jerseys because each and every one is so distinct from another. Nike & US Soccer still haven't found a real identity for the team, so there are radical changes from jersey to jersey.

That said, I hope you'll join me in my journey as I look to fill up my wardrobe with these beloved jerseys!
